Zero to Hero

You may ask why, I ask why not.

Hi, I’m Bill Jellesma and this is my first post which means that I get to say “First” like so many comments on youtube that are most likely not the first comments. As you can see if you head over to my “About” page, I’m a college junior majoring in computer science and math who loves to watch TV, play video games, and read (occasionally) on the side. I love to watch Community, Parks and Recreation, Doctor Who and I love to play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I also enjoy long walks on the beach but that’s beside the point.

I want to start a blog because I’ve always loved creative writing and I used to write a lot when I was in high school, but since I’ve started college, I haven’t had the time to do any writing outside of school. I thought starting a blog would be a good way for showcase my writing. Beyond creative writing, I’d like to always write about news, video games, TV, and really anything that I’d like to write about. If all I want to do is write, I could just as easily write in a journal, but the reason I wanted to make a blog instead is because I wanted to be able to connect and interact with people via the internet. It’s one thing to write a few articles just for yourself, but having such a broad audience and being able to get feedback is what helps one grow.

This introductory Post is part of WordPress’s Zero to Hero 30 day challenge and is supposed to be a way to start January 2014. As you can see, it’s already the 10th which means I’m a little behind (only a little). I’ve been thinking about doing a blog for a long time but I think this challenge will help me stay on track.
